Remembrance Sunday

Hi, this is the Sunday nearest to Armistice Day, representatives from all the armed forces, cadets and ex-servicemen and women march through the town and form a parade in front of the Unknown Soldier, where the poppy wreaths are laid and a minutes silence observed at 11am. The weather forecast is quite good for this morning, this makes a change, it is usually raining, or like last year, heavy frost. The weather makes a big difference for the turnout, and, for me the photo opportunities.

In the afternoon the parade moves to Spean Bridge where the Royal Marine Commandos are the main focus as the ceremony is held at the Commando Memorial, overlooking their training area during the Second World War. I will not be going up there, parking is almost impossible at the Memorial and it is a long, uphill walk from Spean Bridge, this is beyond my capabilities.

Thanks for dropping in, take care.
